Goodbye 151 Cordova

Goodbye 151 Cordova!!
Today we cleaned out the last of the dust and stuff that was in the W2 Storyeum.

The emptiness was a drastic change from the Moving Party on Friday.

As we swept up the last trace of our times in the storyuem it started to really set in that we are moving.
I have only been working at W2 for two months and attending events since new years, but the Storyeum has been open since last April! That is one whole year that has been full of amazing events!
And to put the finishing touches on the clean up we all took our turns pulling the W2 logo off the front entrance!

The end has come for the W2 Storyeum, but we are moving across the street to the W2 Media Cafe in the Woodwards building so while we all will miss the Storyeum we are also excited to move into the W2 Media Cafe where we can do so much more!

To find out more about W2 Media Cafe check out the W2 Website.

April 20th Art Gallery Protest

A busy day! I went to work in the morning as usual on a Wednesday all the way to North Van. I left work at 3:50, but missed the bus, waited and ended up stepping off the bus downtown right at 4:20. I was two blocks away from the art gallery and I was already in a clouds of smoke. I headed towards the gallery despite not wanting to get high and it took me 20 minutes to get through the crowd from one side of the gallery to the other! Half way through I snapped this picture. See the smoke clouds! All in all I was excited to see the cops doing nothing to the people standing next to them lighting joints but, mostly I ended up with the munchies from just being in the smoke. So a few friends and I went to a traditional Saudi Arabian and Lebanese restaurant hidden away at 1065 Granville St. It is seriously good food.

Wednesday night updates of the Reakwon, Snack The Ripped, Evil Ebeneser and Young Sin concert coming next...

W2 Members' Film + Music Nite Video Montage

Standing in the Woodward's building listening to Irwin talk about the plans for the W2 Media Cafe while next to us in the atrium teenagers were playing music and break dancing. What Irwin explained to the group and the atmosphere really brought the plans for W2 Media Cafe into perspective for me.

The W2 Cafe will be a multi-media space open for the public to learn about technology, media, music and more. The best part is that it is basically community run, the future of what happens in the W2 Media Cafe is up to the public for suggestions and everyone can bring their skills in to help our community learn new things that they might not have gotten a chance to otherwise.

Take a look at the video montage of the Cafe tour and film night below for a sneak peak of to expect when the W2 Media Cafe opens.

Happy Valentines Day!

It is definitely evident that it is Valentines day today. This morning the skytrain was riddled with bright pink, heart covered newspapers in everyone's hands. If anyone forgot the date they will definitely be reminded just stepping outside today! (So no excuses men!) hehe

I spent the morning going through my etsy shop and gathered some of my top pieces for Valentines day. There is definitely a red, pink and heart theme here!

Ivory Vintage Market

Vancouver vintage market
Vancouver craft show
So I've been super busy just getting ready for the Ivory Vintage Market on Saturday. I practically had to make one of every piece of jewellery that I make so that I would have stalk for the show! Now that it is tomorrow the excitement is huge! I have never done a show in Surrey before so it will be great to visit a new part of the city.

From what I here there is a great mix of vintage and handmade at the show and this month the show is being held in a cute little community center called Ocean Park Hall. (pictures above) You can check out the ivory vintage blog and get directions to the market here. If you end up going make sure to stop by my table and introduce your self!

Purple Boxes and Portobello West

portobello westThis is my table at Portobello West on Sunday May 30th. The purple boxes are new and I can say that I am super pleased with how they ended up looking. I finally found a way to add some colour to my display. Which it was definitely lacking before!

art and fashion marketThe over all day went really well. There wasn't a whole lot of people coming in but there was a steady stream right up until 5:00 or so. I am not doing any more shows this year until October or November. I think that it is to much of a hassle to do the out side shows that usually happen in the summer. You have to think of the elements like wind, rain and sun then modify your display to work with all that. Plus the scorching hot weather! I would rather just focus on my Etsy shop and getting my jewellery into local shops during the summer. What is everyone planning on doing for the summer? Will you do shows or focus on something else?

Sleepy Moon Design at Portobello West

I am very excited to say that I will be selling at the April 25th Portobello West market!! This will be my first time at this market so I am so curious to see how it turns out! I have been planning a new booth set up for about two months now. hehe So it better work out on the day.. right!? I am still trying to work out how I am getting there being carless and all... Excursions to crafts shows are usually quite funny. One time I had to bring my own table to a show on main st and the buses were not running because it was car free day. So I carried the table and all my display stuff from Kingsway and Main to I think it was 16th and main!! eek! Well I can say I am glad I am not bringing a table to Portobello on the 25th! :) Anyways I hope to see some of the Vancouverites that I know out at the show!! I will have plenty of new designs that are not listed on Etsy yet. So come down and check them out before anyone else steels them away!

30 Essential Vancouver Jewellery Designers

Early February I got an email from one of my favourite Vancouver jewellery designers (Jacqui Kerr of Refine Jewellery Design) saying that she was featured on the blog VancouverMom.ca as one of the 30 essential jewellery designers in Vancouver. Low and behold at the end of February I got a tweet from Vancouver mom saying that she wanted to feature me as one of the 30 essential jewellery designers!! Yay!

So as of March 5th I am have been featured on the Vancouver Mom blog. And I am so grateful and excited to be up there along side all of these fabulous Vancouver jewellery designers. There are so many of us in Vancouver and so many different styles. It is really interesting to browse through all of the articles, learn about how they got started and see all the different styles.

Please take a look at all of the fabulous jewellery designers in Vancouver here>>.
And of course read my interview here>>.

Tribut To Vanocuver's Creativity

I missed the treasury opening AGAIN because my computer was being slow, but I was so excited to share this collection of items made by Vancouver designers and Vancouver related items that I have to share it here!

I thought of making this treasury this morning when I turned on the TV so my son could watch cartoons and saw the torch being run past my old apartment in downtown Vancouver!! :) I though hey why not showcase some of Vancouver's talent in the spirit of the Olympics.

Two Similar Necklaces

Two new necklaces that are very similar, each one has a beautiful faceted amethyst stone delicately wire wrapped in shiny sterling silver wire. The second necklace has a wire wrapped loop that the amethyst briolette hangs off of. The loop almost looks like it is a continuation of the chain.
