Sneak Peak

I always get asked by men if I make men's jewellery. Well men! Now I have something for you. I am now making tie clips and in the near future cuff links to match. Above is a sneak peak of one of my designs. It is extra shiny with a subtle design which can take the tie clip from dressy to casual with out looking out of place. For more formal occasions I will also be making tie clips with gems and customizable designs. A tie clip is an accessory that gets noticed quite a bit and is a great conversation starter so grab your tie clips, because they are an excellent way to express your personality!

The tie clips will soon be available in my Etsy shop and at upcoming local events so keep watching for them.

Why did I not start soldering a long time ago! Hmmm? So I am a little excited and amazed at the possibilities that come with the simple capabilities of soldering metal to metal. Lately I have been emulating nature quite a bit in my designs. I love the delicate beauty of nature and how the sterling silver makes it look like it's frozen in time. I am liking working with metal more and more these days as I keep learning new techniques the whole process blows my mind even more! :)

In my past life I dabbled in photography.. OK three years ago. My photography taking days kinda got taken over by product photos ever since I started making jewellery. Lately I have been inspired by the hundreds of beautiful blogs featuring amazing fashion photography and I wanted to share...^

As you can probably tell I love the wispy fairy tale vibe photos and I recently shot photos for my fall 2010 collection with this in mind, but it didn't work out. Partly due to the atrocious yellow back ground I had to work with and that you couldn't see any of the jewellery with all of the photo shop effects. I am still playing with the photos and am leaning towards black and white with a pop of colour, but we will see. ;)

Yearly Project - Stage 1

I know that I am a simplistic kind of girl, but even I need a bit of extravagance in my life! That is why I am taking on a yearly project. This yearly project will be a one of a kind piece that uses the finest materials and the hardest techniques. It will be a great learning experience to test my knowledge and my creativity and best yet when I am done it will be for sale in my etsy shop for one lucky person to snatch up. The people in line at the post office are going to hate me today!

This labor day weekend has been the perfect kick start to the fall season! I have spent all morning and part of the afternoon making and packaging the jewellery sold over the weekend. I still have to write out the slips for international orders which is 90% of the packages so there is another hour tacked on before I go to the post office.

Even though packaging all the jewellery I packaged today took several hours I took the time to enjoy every part of it. The best part about making jewellery is knowing that people are wearing something I have made. They are willing to pay money for it without even touching it first and that is such a complement! I love reading the feedback that I get and hearing the stories of where my jewellery has gone and the memories that it will make.

I am ecstatic when I look back at the difference between last years average 4 sales a month to this years... WOW! It is a huge accomplishment to me to have learned so much over the past two years. I am so lucky to be able to do what I love, raise my son and live my life just how it is meant to be lived!

I Miss Photography

Before I discovered jewellery design I was really into photography. Lately the only kind of photos I have been taking are product photos. I have lost some of the inspiration I had for photography and recently I have gotten some of that inspiration back. I am a little rusty, but I am optimistic! :)
