Studio Makeover

This weekend I have taken on the big project of replacing my work table legs with more sturdy ones. This whole job includes taking everything off of the desk so I can take the legs off. Above is the many tools and knickknacks that live on my work table.

In this photo you can see the wimpy little legs that were drilled into a hollow piece of wood which was my table.. yeah not so sturdy!

Here is the new and improved work table with secure legs that are also useful storage! You can never have to much storage especially at arms reach. Inside the desk is my son. He is pretending that it is a taxi.

Speaking of storage at arms reach here is my new favourite drawer with all of my most used tools perfectly accessible.

And here is the finished product! :)

... Unfortunately the other side of the room is still a huge mess being full of the things I didn't feel needed to go back to the desk. So off I go back to work on that.

New Bead Storage

As I was doing a grocery shop this past weekend I came across this combo pack of a bunch of spices in these spice jars. I had been on the hunt for something more practicale to store my beads in and I thought "hey that would be perfect". Though I think I need another one because I am organizing them by gemstone type and there are only 16 jars. I think having two or three of them at the back of my desk would be perfect!

It is really cool because it spins around and I can easily see all the different types of stones that I have. I can also take each jar off as I need them, which makes for a more clean and organized desk top.

Designing in Style!

I am now rocking my new work space with my newly purchased Ikea headboard as a table! Check it out!...
I bought the headboard from the as-is department for 10 bucks and the legs were each 5. The table is way bigger than my old one! Ok exactly 6ft instead of 4ft!

I am excited to get working on some new designs. I think that my head and my table will be clearer and I will be more able to concentrate! I also want to decorate the room with all the cool things I can find at craft fairs and on Etsy! I love to have art and creativity all around me. It helps with inspiration too!

So...What are your studios like?

Work Space Almost Complete

This is my new studio workspace in my very own home!

I am very excited to start working in my own little area! It is going to be way better than working on the dining room table and having to clean everything up for lunch and dinner time! I still have a few storage problems that I need to tackle though!

I never know where to store my jewellery designs after I have made them. It can get to be a lot of jewellery to store! Right now I am keeping them all in there own little plastic zippy bags, but I don't like the thought of wasting all that plastic.

One of the ideas that I have thought of is getting a little metal filing cabinet with shallow but skinny drawers that I can lay those black jewellery display trays in and stack them maybe three high in each drawer. Then I can lay the necklaces and earrings out neatly on them without them getting tangled!

Does anybody else have any jewellery storing tips for me? How do you store the jewellery that you make? I would love to here any suggestions!
