Creativity After Dark
I am in love with gemstones and metal and the things that I can make with them!
Have you ever had those moments where you lock your self in your studio and stay up till dawn just making things? Those are the best! And it seems that I am the most inspired in the middle of the night. Who knows why… maybe its the quiet. Maybe it's the sole fact that I can't be disturbed. While staying up all night poses some problems of tiredness and fatigue in the morning when my two year old wakes up I still love doing it. Here are some pieces that I made after sun went down!

A New Look, Oxidized Metals

At the last art and fashion market I did, a lady asked me what the black chain was. When I told her she said "Hey, that is cool! So I guess I can just stop polishing my silver jewellery?" Well in a perfect world maybe, but it wouldn't get that solid black look like it does when using the proper methods. Although when you buy oxidized sterling silver jewellery you get the same benefits of sterling silver with no polishing necessary!! That sounds just as good to me!
Actually when I oxidize the jewellery I make I don't have to go through the very long process of polishing all the silver before a art and fashion market or even every time I make a sale. Which makes me happy! :)

My Ideas On Paper

This may seem like an obvious thing to do. I mean people have been sketching out their idea since caveman days, but I had honestly never thought to work that way. I bought myself a nice hard cover sketch book and some mechanical pencils and now I spend my evenings sketching out the days ideas. I find sketching very relaxing, mainly because I no longer fear that I will forget a moment of design brilliance in the down time.

Two Similar Necklaces

Two new necklaces that are very similar, each one has a beautiful faceted amethyst stone delicately wire wrapped in shiny sterling silver wire. The second necklace has a wire wrapped loop that the amethyst briolette hangs off of. The loop almost looks like it is a continuation of the chain.

New Bead Storage

It is really cool because it spins around and I can easily see all the different types of stones that I have. I can also take each jar off as I need them, which makes for a more clean and organized desk top.

New and Old
Here are some new and old designs:
This is the Fresh water pearl Coral Reef Necklace and a pair of earrings that would match beautifully. I am a fan of the similar, but not the same matching earring. Click here to Visit Sleepy Moon Design's Etsy shop and view these pieces.
This set is a matching set (sold separately). These pieces feature citrine November's birthstone and lemon quartz a close resemblance to citrine. Click here to Visit Sleepy Moon Design's Etsy shop and view these pieces.
Here we have a pair of simple garnet earrings and a fun wire wrapped necklace with Garnet and Spinel. Click here to Visit Sleepy Moon Design's Etsy shop and view these pieces.

SALE
I also just moved to a different apartment and finally got my internet back. So I apologize for not blogging for a whole week. We got the cable/internet guy over to hook up internet and cable the day we moved in, which was Monday. After he left we tried to turn on the TV and hooked up the computer, but they both were not working. He couldn't come back until today, Thursday. Well it turns out that all the problem was, was a switch on the back of the box that had been turned off. So I went four days with out the computer for nothing.
Oh well I guess it was like a holiday!

300 Shops
I am proud to announce I have reached the big number 300 in shops that have hearted my Etsy store. The 300th shop was a great gemstone supplier called Moonelighte. If you like good quality gemstones check her out!
I love checking how many people have hearted my shop every day and seeing the fabulous things that they all make. I also see other Etsy shops that have thousands of shop hearts and I hope to gain that heart mass some day! It feels so nice to know that someone at least meant to come back to your shop at some point in the future.
Yay for hearts!

Cute Picture

This is a picture I took of a cute little rabbit showing the benefits of accessorizing with Sleepy Moon Design's jewellery.
I took this cute picture with the intention of using it as my avatar on Etsy. Now I have decided to just keep the one I had before because I started a thread in the critique forum asking people what they thought I sold before looking at my shop. Everyone thought I sold toys! lol with bling. So although it is very cute and enticing I am back to my old avatar... the red ring.

Necklace Cards

Here is a look at what I did last night, necklace cards!!! I am just so happy with them! I used the 4x6 photo paper, my home printer and my mom, the designer. Find her work at (Racket creative).
These are very simple and look great. I put a very simple design on the front so that it would not draw peoples attention away from the actual piece of jewellery. My logo is on the back and I printed it up side down so that when you fold it over it is right side up. I cut slots on each side where the fold is for the necklaces to hang on. You can also poke holes when you need them for earrings.
I also like that they create a little stand to show off your jewellery at stores or at craft sales! I put the price tag on the back so that the price is marked, but people still have to interact with me to know how much they are.

These earrings are so cool. I found them as I was searching the recently listed section. They were made by Fleathers on Etsy. She says... "Hoops are so plain, but when you add hand made fleathers something magical happens. A smile appears, because you know you stepping out as one of a kind. So smile on and show of the colors that make your ear shine."

New Material

I just ordered the materials that I will be using for the "12 months of earrings" line that I will be working on this summer. (read more here). I am debating when I should release this line. I could release them in January at the beginning of the year, but they will be done way before then. I would also like to be able to take advantage of the Christmas rush. So we will see when I am finished.
I couldn't fit all the pictures in the post but here are some of them. I am still waiting for them to come in the mail.
